Calibration ensures that the mileage recorded in MyFMS matches the actual odometer reading of the vehicle.
When the MyFMS vehicle unit does not read the odometer directly via the CAN bus or OBD port, the travelled distance is calculated using GPS data. Periodic calibration keeps your trip registration accurate and reliable.
The two mileage values are calculated in different ways:
Small differences may occur due to factors such as GPS accuracy, satellite reception, and driving conditions. Periodic calibration ensures that both values remain aligned.
According to the guidelines of the Dutch Tax Administration, users of a fiscally certified trip registration system must calibrate the vehicle's odometer at least once every two months.
This ensures that the trip registration continues to comply with the applicable requirements.
You can calibrate the odometer in several ways:
Yes.
To help you comply with the calibration requirements, MyFMS automatically sends a reminder email when more than one month has passed since the last calibration.
This gives you sufficient time to complete a new calibration before the mandatory two-month deadline.
For more information, see the article Calibrating the Odometer via the Reminder Email.
Yes, in many cases this is possible.
When the MyFMS vehicle unit is connected to the vehicle's CAN bus or OBD port, the odometer reading is retrieved directly from the vehicle. In that case, manual calibration is no longer required.
If you would like to know whether this is possible for your vehicle, please contact MyFMS.
There are several reasons why calibration may not be available.
Calibration can only be performed when the vehicle ignition is switched off.
Turn off the ignition, wait approximately 10 seconds, and try again.
Only the assigned driver or a user with sufficient administrative permissions can calibrate a vehicle.
If you are no longer the assigned driver, please contact your fleet administrator.
If the MyFMS vehicle unit reads the odometer directly via the CAN bus or OBD port, manual calibration is neither possible nor required.
The following hardware does not support fiscally certified trip registration and therefore cannot be calibrated:
If the Calibrations tab is not available on the Asset page, the MyFMS vehicle unit is already reading the odometer directly from the vehicle.
In this case, manual calibration is not required.
